WS-1510U-IT La Crosse, Won’t buy again

Won’t buy again

Bought item in November, but gave it for a Christmas Present in December.Started Unit up per instructions, but the unit could not lock in the signal from the Thermal unit to record temperature or wind speed. The Rainfall gauge worked fine. All this was setup on a table just as instructions recommended. I tried to restart several times but did same thing. Sent three emails to customer support at Lacrosse and called twice and left message since December 28. Never recieved a response or a call since then. Since the product was over the 30 day return policy of amazon I could not return it. I would not recommend this product or any other from Lacrosse just because of the poor customer service.

Update (5/19/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen. I also found some auctions for this item here.

I wish . . .
I wish I would have read this review section before purchasing my La Crosse Technology WS-1510-IT “Professional” Weather Station. After 2 months, the wind speed and direction unit quit transmitting. I followed all the troubleshooting instructions without success. I called customer service and had to leave a message becuase they don’t have a toll free number. Three hours later — still no return call. I don’t have time to sit around all day waiting for a return call.

I guess that is what happens when a company sells junk — they can’t afford a toll free customer service number because too many customers are calling in for help with defective units, and with the number of calls they must be logging, they can’t afford the telephone charges.
