Have to buy extra parts to use with any TV less than 20 years old!
It turns out you can use the rabbit ears for VHF(channels 2-12) OR the loop for UHF (channels 13+), but cannot have both hooked up at the same time. If you want to switch, you get your screwdriver, remove the balun connector, hook it up to the other antenna type and plug it back in…
Or, as the instructions tell you, purchase a specialty item, NOT INCLUDED, that combines the signals. Seriously?
With what comes in the box, this antenna is made to work with TVs that have separate vhf and uhf inputs… which I beleive went away in the 80s.
Update (5/19/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen.

Works great!
I bought this a few weeks ago because the converter does not function well without an antenna, and was worried when I realized I only had 1 shot on the TV and decoder, but it was not a problem ! I connected my ohm transformer converter and get channels 2 to 68 (same way my friends get). It has also dramatically improved the quality of the image that I received. I could get the band separator just to see if anything has improved.
