Big-D Speaks
This grinder is just what I needed. I keep three different 4 1/2″ grinders on hand, one with a thin cutting wheel, one with a flap-disc and this one, for heavy grinding in tight places. The power is equal to my 7″ grinder, but much lighter and easier to handle. I enjoy the varible speed control and the size and fit of the Makita 9564CV fits perfect in my hand. I can use this grinder for extended periods of time without getting “writers-cramp” in my hands. It is a little heavier than other 4 1/2″ grinders, but I expected that because of the 12 amp power. I have always enjoyed the comfort, style and reliability of Makita tools and this unit is no different. I usually perform a lot of research before buying any tool. Not only do I look at price, but mostly I want the most for my money. Makita provides all of my requests. I sometimes find better pricing than Amazon, but rarely do I receive my product as quick as when I order from Amazon. And I have never experienced anything arriving damaged or missing when I order from Amazon.
Update (5/19/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen. I also found some auctions for this item here.

Best grinder ever???
I’m a contractor, and I buy the best tools I can find. Money is a distant second to quality, power, control, etc. I bought this to replace the Makita grinder that broke after only 20 years of commercial use (joke). I was going to get the same model, but decided to upgrade to this one. The soft start and variable speed were a big improvement. Much more control. This one has more power too so it doesn’t bog down. Excellent device! I have large glove sized hands and the barrel grip was fine for me. If you have smaller hands, you might want to check for hand fit before purchase.

Woody Ole Time Woodworker
Thank you for an excellent product. The grinder arrived 1 day before scheduled. The packaging was perfect. The mill has no vibration. There are variable speed settings 5. I used to sharpen mill 3 sets of blades of a lawn mower. Then used to grind the bolts holding the wood sides on my utility trailer. The grinder is very well balanced and a little on the heavier side. A discount of grinding is uncomfortable. The switch is located on the side and is a positive screen and OFF. I look forward to many years of use.
